A refreshing evening of classical music and Gurbani- an engaging event by Kabir Cultural Centre
On 23rd March, in an entertaining evening show , two creative singers, Ramneek Singh and Bhai Satnam Singh presented their respective skills in Hindustani vocal and Gurbani; a program organized by Kabir Cultural Centre at FC Smith Auditorium Loyola Campus, Concordia University.
Ramneek Singh belongs to ‘Indore’ Gharana which was started by Ustad Amir Khan; beautifully presented Raag Jog (Three compositions), Raag Hamsadhwani (two compositions) and ended up with Kabir Bhajan. She was accompanied by Yashodhan Navathe in Tabla and Salim Majeed in Harmonium.
During the second half of the evening, Bhai Satnam Singh delivered some soul stirring hymns of Gurbani, the main branch of Sikh religious music which was originated almost five hundred years ago. Bhai Malkit Singh and Bhai Bikramjit Singh accompanied him in Tabla and in Harmonium respectively.
For music lovers of Montreal, it remained a treat for the ears.
