Montreal renews its support for the Carifiesta parade
Montréal, May 10, 2017 – The Ville de Montréal renews its financial support for the 42nd edition of the La Carifiesta parade on July 8th.
“It is always a pleasure to see every year how many Montrealers are pleased to see the Carifiesta parade on rue Sainte-Catherine and this summer will be a great occasion to celebrate the 375th of Montreal on sunny rhythms,” said The Mayor of Montreal, Mr. Denis Coderre.
As has been the case since 2014, the City will provide $ 30,000 to the Caribbean Cultural Festivities Association (AFCC), which organizes the event and provides technical and logistical assistance, including the SPVM, valued at 150,000 $ To ensure the safety and smooth running of the event.
“We are very pleased to support the AFCC, a strong organization that is making the Carifiesta parade, a flagship event that is very much appreciated by Montrealers and that contributes to the development of Montréal as an intercultural metropolis,” said Mr. Dimitrios (Jim) Beis, responsible for procurement, sports and recreation as well as communities of diverse origins on the Executive Committee.
For its 42nd edition, the parade Carifiesta will, as always, be colorful with troops of dancers and allegorical floats. The route will run along St. Catherine Street west from Du Fort Street to Phillips Square.
